Baranello
Baranello is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2686 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Campobasso in the Molise. The municipality is situated approximately 10 km west-southwest of Campobasso. The western boundary of the municipality is the Biferno.
History
The name is derived from the Monte Varaino, on the hilltop was a Samnite village. There is today an archaeological excavation area.
Traffic
Along the Biferno leads the Strada Statale 647 Fondo Valle della Biferno. The train station of Baranello lies on the railway line Isernia - Campobasso or Benevento - Campobasso.
