Petacciato

Petacciato is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3677 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Campobasso in the Molise. The municipality is situated approximately 52 kilometers north-northwest of Campobasso on the Adriatic coast.

History

With earthquakes in 1117, 1125 and 1456, the population has been difficult on the Adriatic coast and over again. Military Historically, the community was affected due to the incidence of the Goths, the Byzantines and the Lombards in the early Middle Ages. 1463, it caught the battle between the Anjou and the Crown of Aragon. A little later the Turks invaded at this point on the Italian peninsula.

Traffic

Due to the community run along the coast largely parallel to the autostrada A14 direction Bologna Taranto and the Strada Statale 16 Adriatica. Together with the neighboring town of Monte di Bisaccia is a railway station on the Adriatic coast railway from Ancona to Lecce.
