Baybay
Baybay City is a Filipino town (Component City ) in the province of Leyte.

Geography
Baybay has an area of 460.50 km ². The city is located on the west coast of the province of Leyte. Baybay City belongs to the area of climate type 4 according to the Philippine climate classification. The area is in the eastern part of the urban area is generally mountainous and falls to the west towards the sea. Parts of the Kuapnit Balinsasayaw National Park situated on the territory of the municipality.

Baybay City is politically subdivided into 92 barangays, 23 of which are in the main town ( Poblacion ). "Rural" classified the remaining 69 barangays are considered.

History
Baybay has been raised by the ratification of Republic Act No. 9389 in a referendum on 16 June 2007 by a city (municipality ) to a provinzangehörigem city (Component City). Baybay is thus the third city in the province of Leyte.
Population structure and development
According to the report of the NSCO 2002 Baybay had 99 689 inhabitants, this means an increase over the population of 82 281 in 1990. In 2000, the 23 barangays of the capital of 17 391 inhabitants, 82 289 lived in the 69 " rural" barangays. 1990, the share of the urban population stood at 18.27 %, therefore lived 81.73 % of the population in the country. Until 2000, the absolute number of urban population increased from 15,034 to 17.391, but the proportion decreased to 17.44 % as at the same time the number of the rural population of 67 247 to 82 298 ( 82.56 % ) increased.
Economy
Baybay is dominated by agriculture, the main sources of income are farming and fishing. Some residents are engaged in hunting and forestry. The main agricultural products are rice, corn, fruit, root vegetables and vegetables.
