Bente Skari

Bente Skari ( born September 10, 1972 in Oslo, native Bente Martinsen ) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier. She is the daughter of Odd Martinsen. Before her marriage with Geir Skari in 1999 she launched under her birth name Martinsen.

Career

Your first Olympic medals, a silver and a bronze in the relay about 5 km, Skari won in 1998. At the Winter Games in 2002 she was Olympic champion over 10 km, also reached with the relay and the second over 30 km in third place. At World Championships Skari won between 1997 and 2003 a total of five titles and reached two more podium finishes. In 2001, she was awarded the Holmenkollen medal (her father had received it in 1969 ).

In the Cross Country World Cup Skari was also very successful and won a total of 42 races. Only 14 wins get her in her last season 2002/ 03, a feat that has been achieved to date almost no other runner. Four times decided Skari the Appreciation of the World Cup for themselves: 1999 ( tied with Stefania Belmondo ), 2000, 2002 and 2003.
