The regional airport Bern- Belp ( IATA: GVA, ICAO: LSZB / LSMB ) is the airfield of the Swiss Federal City of Bern and the home base of the Sky Work Airlines. It is operated by the private sector Alpar flight and airfield Company Ltd, which refers to him contrary to his classification as an airport.

Location and Transport

The airport is located 6 km southeast of Bern on the territory of the municipality Belp. The driveway for private transport is via the A6 motorway exit Rubigen. He can be reached by public transport: every half hour drive to the Airport Bus Bern Belp to the railway station, from where the S-Bahn lines S3, S4, S31 and S44 to the Bern Train Station stop. The travel time between the airport and the Bern railway station is 29 minutes.

The regional bus Tangento connects the airport Bern- Belp with the surrounding communities Konolfingen, Tägertschi, Münsingen, Rubigen and Belp. In addition, metered parking spaces are available in the open air.

A direct bus from the main station of Bern and the airfield was introduced in spring 2009 (weekdays three to four compounds, six on weekends ). However, it was canceled again.

Equipment

The airfield has a fixed start and runway 14/32 of 1,730 m in length and two grass runways. The former was expanded in 2008 to 220 m in order to comply with the new safety regulations in European air traffic. A newly installed instrument landing system on the track is officially gone as of September 2008. In early 2015 a new GPS approach procedure to be introduced. This, however, is meeting with the residents in the south with strong resistance, they are afraid of increased aircraft noise. Also, the general aviation defends itself against the project because the control zone of the airfield is to be expanded to Thun.

Bern -Belp is the home base of the Sky Work Airlines offering from here to most destinations. She flies, along with seasonal hot water destinations around the Mediterranean, also several European cities destinations. The summer schedule 2013 new Munich was added to the route network from Bern. In addition, Darwin, Eurolot, InterSky and Helvetic Bern to fly all year round or seasonally.
