Beyer

Beyer [ bai̯ɐ ] is a German family name.

Origin and Meaning

The simplest explanation for the name Beyer in all variants ( Bayer, Beiersdorf, Boii ) is the reference of the name of the tribe of Bavaria or the Bavarians. So Designates a native of Bavaria. However, with this interpretation with caution. It is just as easy and widespread as also questionable. Beyer in the Silesian origin is as a variant on the Occupation Farmer and can therefore just in this sense have meaning. Another explanation is Beiern the origin of the word, which means termination of bell with a clapper. The Beiermeester in Holland is a carillon master and thus a musician (see also Beiern ). It would therefore be examined whether the family name Bayer and Beyer are not only spelling variations, but also have a different meaning origin. As part of the research to family name is also known that Bayer or Beyer as a Jewish name in Namensgebungverfahren in 1800 had a meaning.
