Bolotnoye

Bolotnoje (Russian Болотное ) is a town in Novosibirsk Oblast (Russia) with 16,570 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located in the southeastern part of the West Siberian Plain, about 90 km northeast of Oblasthauptstadt Novosibirsk. The climate is continental.

The city is the administrative center of the Bolotnoje Rajons same name.

History

Bolotnoje was created in 1805 as a settlement at the Siberian highway, and received city rights in 1943.

The city has since 1981 a local museum.

Economy and infrastructure

In Bolotnoje there are companies in the food and light industry, construction and rail transport.

The city lies on the Trans-Siberian Railway ( 3463 line kilometers from Moscow, Bolotnaya station name ). South bypasses the M53 highway Krasnoyarsk Novosibirsk on over to Irkutsk.

North of Bolotnoje there is a very long wave transmitter for the radio navigation system RSDN -20 ( alpha).
