Breda–Eindhoven railway

The railway Breda - Eindhoven is a railway line between Breda and Eindhoven. The railway is an important railway line in the south of the Netherlands. The distance is about 58 kilometers.

History

On 5 October 1863, the first section between Breda and Tilburg was opened; this was the first track section of the Dutch State Railways. The section between Tilburg and Boxtel was inaugurated on 1 May 1865. The final section between Boxtel and Eindhoven was opened to traffic on July 1, 1866.

In the years 1998 to 2002, the distance between Boxtel and Eindhoven of two was expanded to four tracks, which is why the stations were completely rebuilt in Boxtel and Best. The station was rebuilt in Best in an underground tunnel station.

The timetable change in December 2010, the station was renamed in Tilburg West.

Traffic

In the year 2012 timetable operating on the route intercity trains from The Hague to Venlo and the regional Tilburg Universiteit to Weert. Only on the section between Breda and Tilburg also operate the InterCity trains from Roosendaal to Arnhem and the regional train from Breda to Utrecht. Furthermore, the stations between Boxtel and Eindhoven of the InterCity trains from Alkmaar to Maastricht and Heerlen and from Schiphol to Eindhoven and the regional of 's- Hertogenbosch be traversed after Deurne.
