History

As early as the Neolithic farmers settled on the fertile loess soils of Osterhofener Gäus and thus also in the area around Buchhofen. In contrast, the earliest documentary evidence dates only from the 8th century: to 741 of the Agilolfingerherzog Odilo on suitable to the newly founded monastery Altaha / Altach / Niederaltaich 28 Mansi / Huben of Poohofa / Buchhofen and Muliheim / Mühlham. The monastery Obermünster in Regensburg received around the middle of the 9th century a handsome estate in Otmarigen / Ottmaring. In the course of municipal reform was created in 1978 from the previously independent municipalities Buchhofen and Ottmaring the community Buchhofen.
