Aholming is a municipality in the district of Deggendorf, Lower Bavaria, and known as the site of a transmission system of the Germany radio for the long wave.

Aholming lies in the Donau -Wald.

The municipality comprises the towns Aholming, wide field, Garnschwaig, Isarau, Kühmoos, Moss Mill, Neutiefenweg, Penzling, Probstschwaig, smoke Schwaig, Schwarzwöhr, Tabertshausen, Tabertshauserschwaig and Thannet.

History

Already from the Stone Age and Bronze Age finds are to Aholming. 1112, a first written mention of the village under the name Auhalmingen derived from the personal name Walchoun de Auhalmingen. The modern spelling is attested since the mid-15th century. Early on it was Hofmark of the Bishopric of Passau.

Around the middle of the 13th century came Aholming in the possession of the Wittelsbach family. In the second Duke land register in 1280 the bailiwicks Aholming and Penzling appear already under the judgment Hengersberg. The Last of the eponymous race, Heinrich von Ahalming was mentioned in 1312. From 1363 to 1413 the Chamerauer were masters of Aholming. This year it bought Knight Heinrich Notthafft of Wernberg from the Chamerauern. For 300 years, then ruled the Notthafft about Aholming.

1553 were the holders of the reign of Emperor Charles V. Aholming the right to brew beer and hold an annual market. Aholming belonged to Rentamt Landshut and the district court Natternberg of the Electorate of Bavaria.
