Bures (Meurthe-et-Moselle)

Bures is a commune with 69 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. Administratively it belongs to the district Luneville and Canton Arracourt. She is also a member of the local association was founded in 1998 Pays du Sânon.

Geography

The community of Bures is on 230 m above sea level, 16 kilometers north-east of Luneville, about halfway between Nancy and Sarrebourg.

The municipal area includes a portion of the north Sânon Valley. Apart from trees at the Etang de Parroy and smaller streams which 5.74 km ² large municipality area is treeless and dominated by vast areas of arable land.

At the Etang de Parroy, a nearly 30-acre storage pond which was created by a dam embankment during construction of the Rhine - Marne Canal, Bures has a small share. The pond is fed by three rivers and is excess water in the Rhine - Marne Canal from. In precipitation poorer summers wide areas of the lake dry up. Interestingly, the pond is particularly for ornithologists in Bures on the west bank built a station in 1997. On the reedy banks of numerous breeding birds were observed, including Least Bittern, Marsh Harriers and Purple Heron.

At Bures include the farms La Four Aces and Saint- Pancrace west of the core site.

Neighboring communities of Bures are Réchicourt -la -Petite in the north, Parroy the southeast, Laneuveville -aux -Bois in the south, Hénaménil in the south, the west and Bathelémont Arracourt in the northwest.

History

Sword and key in the coat of arms refer to the previous affiliation of the village to the abbey Senones.

Economy and infrastructure

Still Agriculture plays a significant role in Bures. In addition, tourism has evolved.

Bures is located off of the nationally important transport arteries. The municipality can be reached by a descent of the highway of Dombasle -sur -Meurthe after Sarrebourg. Other roads connect the village with the communities Réchicourt -la -Petite and Bathelémont.
