Cavinti, Laguna

Cavinti is a Philippine municipality in the province of Laguna. It is located in a hilly landscape which is upstream of the Sierra Madre Mountains. In parts of the municipality are the Caliraya and the Lumot Lake.

History

The Aetas, the early inhabitants of the country, performed a wedding ceremony in which the groom followed the bride on the river bank and on her legs ( tagalog: binti ) grasp tried, while the spectators shouted " Kabit sa binti, Kabit sa binti! ". Later it was Kabinti.
