Cecilia Stegö Chilò

Marie Cecilia Stegö Chilo ( born March 25, 1959 in Linköping ) is a Swedish journalist and politician. It belongs to the Moderata samlingspartiet and was after the government took office Reinfeldt from 6 to 16 October 2006 Swedish Minister of Culture. She is married and has two sons.

From 1978 to 1984 studied Cecilia Stegö Chilo political science, economics, law and languages. In 1982, she was Secretary General of the European Democrat Students. In the same year she began working as a journalist for a newspaper in Norrköping. In 1984 she changed her job to the County Council of Stockholm County before the press officer of the parliamentary group of her party was a year later. In 1987, she was a speechwriter for the party leadership, and since 1989 she worked as a foreign correspondent for Leitartikelschreiberin and Svenska Dagbladet ( including Germany ). In 1995, she left her party in protest against the expulsion from the party of the EU critic Björn von der Esch. In 2001, she was a commentator for the internal politics of the Swedish Radio. Since 2005, she was Chair of the Fritt Näringsliv Foundation ( Free economy ) and the think tank Timbro before she was appointed after the general election in 2006 to the Minister of Culture.

Criticism

Shortly after her appointment as Minister of Culture Cecilia Stegö Chilo has been heavily criticized. Firstly, it was announced that she had domestic help hired black, on the other hand came out that she had not paid any fees for Swedish television irregularly since 1990, the responsibility for this very television but falls within the remit of her ministry. After extensive criticism in the media of their behavior and a display by the Radiotjänst, the Swedish equivalent of the GEZ, they wanted on 16 October 2006 to resign from her post as Kulturminsterin.
