Claude Larose (ice hockey, born 1955)

Claude André Larose ( born May 17, 1955 in Saint -Jean -sur -Richelieu, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player ( left wing ), who from 1973 to 1978, the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League and for the Cincinnati Stingers the Indianapolis Racers in the World Hockey Association played.

Career

As a junior he played with the Drummondville Rangers in the QMJHL and moved in 1974 within the League to the Sherbrooke Castors de. With these he reached the finals in 1975 to the Memorial Cup. There you subject to the Toronto Marlboros. The initially very defensive oriented Left Wing developed into one of the best scorers of the Junior League.

Very different were the views of the scouts to his abilities. In the NHL you do not trust him too much and he was selected in the NHL Amateur Draft 1975 by the New York Rangers only in the seventh round as 120. When WHA Amateur Draft in 1975, however, the Cincinnati Stingers used the first pick of the draft, in order to secure the rights to him.

Right at the beginning of the 1975/76 season he went for the Stingers for goals scramble. He developed into a decent attacker in the WHA, however, was not the star, which they had hoped. During the season 1977/78 moved to the WHA to the Indianapolis Racers. Here he was also there as Wayne Gretzky began his pro career in the squad.

After the WHA was disbanded he went to the New York Rangers, who still had the NHL right at him. He brought it to the NHL but only 25 games and was mostly for the New Haven Nighthawks of the American Hockey League. After he had for the Springfield Indians played the 1981/82 season in the AHL, the Rangers picked him up again for two playoff games.

After that, he continued to play in the AHL for the Sherbrooke Jets, and later for the Canadiens de Sherbrooke. Here he was able to prove himself again as one of the top scorers.

After he ended his active career in 1986, he returned in 1996 again on the ice back and played in the Quebec Semi-Pro Hockey League for two seasons for the Pape Tiers de Windsor.
