Cleveland is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Charlotte County in the U.S. state of Florida with 2,990 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Cleveland is located on the south bank of the Peace River and 2 km east of Punta Gorda. The CDP is affected by the Interstate 75 and 35 crossed by U.S. Highway 17 and Florida State Road on a common route. It is located about 150 km south of Tampa.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 2,990 inhabitants distributed to 1,880 households. The population density was 210.6 inh. / Km ². 95.6 % of the population were white, 1.1% African American, 0.7 % Native American and 0.8 % Asian Americans. 0.5 % were members of other ethnic groups and 1.4% in different ethnic groups. 2.8% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 49.2 % of all households lived in 17.4 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 61.5 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.13 persons and the average family size is 2.59 people.

16.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 15.3% were 20-39 years old, 26.7 % were 40-59 years old and 41.8 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 55 years. 49.9 % of the population were male and 50.1 % female.

The average annual income was $ 37,083, while 18.2 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 98.57 % of the population spoke Spanish 0.81% and 0.62 % spoke German.
