Charlotte Harbor is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Charlotte County in the U.S. state of Florida with 3,714 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Charlotte Harbor is located on the north bank of the Peace River, just before it flows into the Bay Charlotte Harbor. On the south side of the river lies the town of Punta Gorda, which is connected to the CDP via two 2 km of bridges the Tamiami Trail (U.S. 41). The CDP is located about 150 km south of Tampa.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 3,714 inhabitants distributed to 2,736 households. The population density was 663.2 inh. / Km ². 89.3 % of the population were white, 6.0% African American, 0.2% Native American and 1.7 % Asian Americans. 1.2% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.6% in different ethnic groups. 5.6% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 58.3 % of all households lived in 12.4 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 40.2% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 1.73 persons and the average family size is 2.50 people.

11.8% of the population were younger than 20 years, 13.9% were 20-39 years old, 19.2% were 40-59 years old and 55.1 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 64 years. 44.5 % of the population were male and 55.5 % female.

The average annual income was $ 44,904, while 10.9 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100 % of the population.
