Manasota Key is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Charlotte County in the U.S. state of Florida with 1,229 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Manasota Key is located on an island between the Lemon Bay and the Gulf of Mexico to the coast of Florida. The CDP is located approximately 40 km west of Punta Gorda and about 130 km south of Tampa.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 1,229 inhabitants distributed to 2,083 households. The population density was 438.9 inh. / Km ². 98.2 % of the population were white, 0.1% African American, 0.4% Native American and 0.2 % Asian Americans. 0.2 % were members of other ethnic groups and 0.8 % of various ethnicities. 1.3% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 70.5 % of all households lived in 2.3% of all households with persons at least 65 years. 57.7 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 1.68 persons and the average family size is 2.09 people.

2.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 3.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 19.2% were 40-59 years old and 75.2 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 69 years. 47.8 % of the population were male and 52.2 % female.

The average annual income was $ 63,000, while 2.7 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100 % of the population.
