Cluny Brown

Cluny Brown on courting ( Original title: Cluny Brown) is a film directed by Ernst Lubitsch in 1946 with Jennifer Jones and Charles Boyer in the lead roles. It is based on the novel The Girl Cluny Brown by Margery Sharp.

Action

Protagonists are Adam Belinski, a Polish professor and resistance fighter against the Nazis and Cluny Brown, a somewhat naive orphan who like to repair clogged drains. So she finally learns what counts in life, it comes as a maid in the household of Sir and Lady Carmel. The druggist in the village wants to marry her. As you come back a defective drain between the druggist and loses his interest in a marriage with Cluny. Located between Cluny and Belinsky later developed a romance that leads to many twists to a happy ending.

Cluny Brown came out in June 1946 and was Lubitsch's last fully staged his own movie.
