Coast-to-Coast Line

The Kust till kust - bana is a Swedish railway track that leads over 353 km from Gothenburg Borås and Växjö to Kalmar / Karlskrona. History

There was direct Gothenburg Kalmar and Karlskrona Gothenburg shortly after the opening of Borås Alvesta in 1902. During the 1990s, SJ began to sell direct, in which modern X2000 trains were used. The new concept was an unexpected success.

Today's state

Nowadays, there are direct trains Göteborg-Kalmar/Karlskrona with modern railcars ( Bombardier Regina ). Other plans for the future

There are plans to build the route Gothenburg - Borås totally restyled as high-speed railway with a top speed of 320 km / hr.

By the year 2020, the section Mölnlycke Bollebygd to be built, the airport Gothenburg -Landvetter is to be crossed by a tunnel station. There are also plans for a new high-speed line Stockholm- Gothenburg ( Götalandsbanan ), which will be but not completed until about 2030.
