Conchita Wurst

Thomas " Tom" Neuwirth aka Conchita Wurst ( born November 6, 1988 in Gmunden, Upper Austria ) is an Austrian singer and drag artist.

Life and career

Tom Neuwirth grew up in the Styrian market town of Bad Mitterndorf. In 2006, Neuwirth part in the third season of the talent show Star Mania. In this he was second after the winner Nadine Beiler in the final. A year later, in 2007, he founded together with Falco De Jong Luneau, John "Johnny" K. Palmer and Martin ZERZA the boyband " different now! " That exist even in the same year.

In 2011 he attracted with his participation as a fictional character " Conchita Wurst" in the ORF talent show " The big opportunity " attention. As a " Conchita Wurst" he also took on the Austrian finals for the Euro Vision Song Contest 2012 ( Austria rocks the Song Contest ) part and reached the second place.

In 2013 he took this role on the show " The toughest jobs in Austria " on ORF one, where he worked in the fish production, and in the summer of 2013, he starred on the show Wild Girls on RTL, where he reached the seventh place.

As Conchita Wurst Neuwirth represents Austria at the Euro Vision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen with the song Rise Like a Phoenix.
