Constantin Stancu

Constantin Stancu ( born October 2, 1956 in Piteşti ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach. He played 445 games in Divizia A, the highest Romanian football league. Since the summer of 2012, he is without a club.

Career as a player

Stancu played throughout his career for FC Arges Pitesti only from his hometown. Emerged from the youth of the club he came into the squad for the first team, where he got his first deployment in Divizia A on 1 September of the same year in 1976. In the course of the season 1976/77 he fought his way to a permanent place, which he did not relinquish it until the end of his career. Beginning with the season 1977/78 he played with his team to the championship. According to the vice championship behind the same number of points Steaua Bucharest he won in the season 1978/79 the title. In the following two years, he could not repeat that success and had to defer to the FC Universitatea Craiova.

During the 1980s with Arges Stancu could no longer continue this successful time and slipped from year to year, before he had to fight for relegation in the 1988/89 season for the first time. On 2 June 1990, he played his last game for Arges and ended after 14 years of his career, after he had secured with his club on the final day of the season 1989/90 in the league.

National

Stancu played three games for the Romanian national team. He debuted on June 1, 1983 in a friendly against Yugoslavia when he came on in the 70th minute for Gino Iorgulescu. He was national coach Mircea Lucescu rarely taken into account before he came on 7 March 1984, his last assignment in the friendly against Greece.

Career as a coach

In the 1989/90 season Stancu worked for six games as player-coach of his club FC Arges Pitesti, before he was replaced in April 1990 by Ion Nunweiller. With the beginning of season 1995/96 he was again head coach of Arges, but was discharged after 13 games and replaced by Constantin Cârstea.

In October 1997, as the successor of Vasile Stancu was Aelenei head coach of CF Chindia Targoviste in Divizia A. At the end of the season, he was relegated with his team in the Divizia B. In October 2001, he was after the dismissal of Ilie Stan Coach of Astra Ploieşti, before he was replaced by Gheorghe Mulţescu. On 15 September 2011 he joined the successor to Stan at CS Mioveni, but had to vacate his seat on October 11, 2011 Mihai Stoichiţă. By the end of the season, however, he remained Mioveni get as an assistant coach.
