The Costa Classica is a cruise ship of the Italian cruise line Costa Crociere SpA in Genoa.
Development
In 2000, the shipyard Cammell Laird built a center section for the 1991 -built Costa Classica, but has not been removed from the shipping company. In the years 2001 and 2005 the ship was completely renovated.
The Costa Classica was driving for a while the only ship of the fleet with the main board German language under the motto: " German -language ship", while remaining the languages of other countries were represented. The difference from the Costa Marina, which also " German -language ship" went under the slogan a few years, was that the Costa Classica was also marketed internationally, but the German passengers especially was taken into consideration; For example, German participants were asked about interests and wishes appearance of the ship before.
Incident in 2005
On 24 August 2005 broke on the ship from the fire. This happened off the Greek coast in the region around the south island of Poros from the Greek port of Piraeus.
Between Fall 2008
On 6 June 2008, the MSC Poesia came off Dubrovnik along with the Costa Classica and broke at wind speeds of 25 knots the anchor of the MSC Poesia. There were no injuries and the damage was only slight.
Between Fall 2010
The ship collided on 18 October 2010 on a trip to Asia to arrive in Shanghai at 04:45 clock early local time, which is registered in Belgium cargo ship Lowlands Longevity and was on the starboard side about 11 meters above the waterline, with a circa 20 meters long and up to 1.40 meters high crack in the hull badly damaged. Above the crack pulled a 50-meter- long dimpled scar on the ship. Carries ten passengers were injured, three passengers were in a clinic; the trip was canceled.
