Cubry-lès-Faverney

Cubry -lès- Faverney is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Cubry -lès- Faverney situated at an altitude of 233 m above sea level, 5 km north-northeast of Faverney and about 21 km north of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northern part of the department, in the hollow of the Ruisseau des canes, on the northern edge of the wide valley of the Lanterne.

The area of ​​5.59 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside of the north of the valley of the Lanterne. From north to south the area is crossed by the Talung the Ruisseau des canes, which is northwest of the village dammed to several ponds. The Alluvialniederung is on average 230 m and opens to the south for the Lanterne level. Agricultural land use predominates here. The southern boundary runs along the Bois de Revreuge.

Is flanked to the west by the Talniederung Haut de Faux (255 m) and to the east of the hill of Bois de Cubry (257 m). To the north, the municipality's area covers over the gently sloping terrain in the Groves of Grand Bois, Bois de la Chapelle and up to the southern slopes of the Fougermont. Here the highest elevation of Cubry -lès- Faverney is achieved with 305 m. In geological- tectonic terms, the area consists of a alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ). In some places, is also evident limestone of Middle Triassic.

Neighboring communities of Cubry -lès- Saint- Remy Faverney are in the north, Bourguignon- lès- Conflans in the east, the south and Mersuay Menoux in the West.

History

Is first mentioned Cubry in 1276. During the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government has held the monastery Faverney. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Cubry -lès- Faverney is a member of the 16- villages municipal association Communauté de communes de la Saône Jolie.

Attractions

The Church of the Nativity of Saint -Jean -Baptiste was rebuilt in the 18th century and restored in 1978. For notable appointments include the statues of Mary and John the Baptist ( 17th century ), furniture and paintings and a richly sculpted altar (18th century) and contemporary stained glass windows. Population

With 143 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Cubry -lès- Faverney one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 230 people were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1950s.

Economy and infrastructure

Cubry -lès- Faverney was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses, especially in the sectors of wood processing and agricultural machinery. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Menoux by Bourguignon- lès- Conflans. Further road links exist with Mersuay and Anchenoncourt.
