Daiki Ito

Daiki Ito (Japanese伊 东 大 贵, Daiki Ito, born 27 December 1985, Shimokawa ) is a Japanese ski jumper. With the Japanese team, he won the mixed team competition at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013.

Career

Itō jump since 2002 in the World Cup in the 2003/ 04 season he was 37th in the overall World Cup, 2004/ 05 he was the best Japanese 13 and 2005/ 06 on the 19th rank. In the Ski Flying World Championships 2004 in Planica, Slovenia, he finished with the Japanese team, along with Noriaki Kasai, Akira Higashi and Hideharu Miyahira, fifth place.

On 6 January 2005, he jumped at the final competition of the Four Hills Tournament on the Paul Ausserleitner hill in Bischofshofen as a third party for the first time on the podium at a World Cup competition. A year later it reached January 22, 2006 at the home World Cup on the Okurayama -Hill in Sapporo for the first time for second place.

His greatest successes were two third-place finishes at the World Championships: At the World Cup in Sapporo 2007 and at the World Cup in Liberec 2009 he won with the team, along with Shohei Tochimoto, Takanobu Okabe and Noriaki Kasai, bronze medals.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010, he reached the 15th place in jumping on the normal hill.

Another highlight saw Daiki Ito in the summer of 2010. During the summer series of ski jumping Ito decided early on at the top. Although he resigned for reasons of winter preparation for the last two competitions and so his overall victory risked, he could first decide the Summer Grand Prix for themselves.

On January 15, 2012 Itō was able to achieve his first podium finish in the ski flying when jumping at Kulm with second place behind Anders Bardal. Nearly two weeks later, he succeeded in Sapporo, the first World Cup victory, with only 0.1 points ahead he was able to prevail ahead of Norway's Anders Bardal. The very next day he was his second victory feiern.Insgesamt get him this season with 4 wins and fourth place in the overall World Cup his best result to date by far.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme, he won the Japanese team the gold medal in the inaugural mixed- team competition. A year later he won the Japanese team at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014 the bronze medal in the team competition.
