2008–09 FIS Ski Jumping World Cup

The Ski Jumping World Cup 2008/2009 was discharged from the International Ski Federation FIS between 28 November 2008 and 22 March 2009, 19 different locations in Europe, North America and Asia competition series in ski jumping. Originally, the implementation of 28 singles and six team competitions was planned. The appointments were confirmed at the FIS Congress on 30 May 2008 in Cape Town. An individual competition was canceled, another planned on the large hill competition was moved to cancellation on the normal hill. A broken team competition could be made up. With 27 individual and six team competitions as many competitions as never before received in the rating. For the first time the FIS Team Tour was played in this season. The victory in the overall standings was the Austrian Gregor Schlierenzauer win, the first to reach Springer of more than 2000 points and was able to celebrate 13 singles wins in a season, he was already jumping two before the season ends as a winner is determined; on the second and third place followed the Swiss Simon Ammann and Austrian Wolfgang Loitzl. Rules changes

Due to the high number of ski flying competitions a discipline rating for the ski flying is performed for the first time since 2000/01 again, the winner will receive a small crystal ball. After the departure of long-time title sponsor E.ON Ruhrgas, the leader bears in the World Cup again, as before the seasons 2006/ 07, a Yellow Jersey, instead of used in the last two years, the Red jerseys. The only introduced in the last season Blue jersey for the winner of the qualification is no longer awarded. Also qualifying winner receives no prize money.

The Czech Ski Association announced after the conclusion flying in Planica that the expiring contract with Richard Schallert is not extended. His successor, David Jiroutek, who was already 2000-2002 head coach in the Czech Republic.

Career ends

Before the start of the season, in October 2008, gave the Swiss Michael Möllinger his retirement from competitive sport known.
