Anders Johnson (ski jumper)

Anders Johnson ( born April 23, 1989 in Plattsburgh ) is an American ski jumper.

Career

Anders Johnson began his professional career in the Continental Cup in the 2001/ 02 season. On 26 January 2002, he took the first part in a series of jumping and reaching there its 21st place on the large hill. At the Junior World Championship 2003 in Sollefteå, Sweden he reached on the normal Schanz in the individual competition of the 44th and in the team competition along with Evan Blias, Blake Hughes and Chris Francis on the 14th and penultimate place in front of Switzerland. After another jump in the Continental Cup, he started again in 2005 at the Junior World Championships in Stryn, Norway and reached there in the individual competition and the 52nd in the team jumping to 12th place. In the following years, Johnson failed to qualify for the A-National squad and jumped so still only in the Continental Cup. At the Junior World Championships in 2005 in Rovaniemi, Finland, he was able to improve its profit by 2003 and reached the individual competition in 35th place and in the team competition, together with Mike Glasder, Nicholas Fairall and Skyler Keate the 11th Place. At the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010 Johnson was eliminated in 49th place in jumping on the normal hill made ​​after the first passage. When qualifying on the big hill he could not qualify for the finals to be 42.

Johnson's sister Alissa Johnson is also ski jumper jumps and also for the national teams of the United States. His father Alan Johnson was also successful ski jumper and 1988-1992 coach of the national team in nordic combined, and from 1992 to 1995 his manager before he became coach of the 1995-1996 ski jumping national squad of the United States.
