Dalfsen

Dalfsen ( listen? / I ) is a municipality in the province of Overijssel (Netherlands). It has a population of 27,567 (as of 1 January 2013).

And some small towns. A third of the population lives in farms, etc. outside the town centers.

Location and economic

The community is located between Zwolle and Ommen on the Vecht. The village Dalfsen, about 10 km east of Zwolle, has a small railway station on the line Zwolle -Marie Berg, Acc Hardenberg- Emmen. The municipalities traversed by good highways; but there is no highways.

Main source of income in the village is agriculture, Nieuwleusen and Lemelerveld also have some industry. Tourism is also of increasing importance.

History

The name Dalfsen is first mentioned in a document from 1231. The place never received city rights, despite its location on the river Vecht. Opposite the village is in the midst of a beautiful forest, which was built in 1320 Rechteren Castle, which is inhabited by Rechteren - Limpurg from the noble family of the counts been around for about 600 years. For a long time standing on the bank of the Vecht a chestnut, which served as a high-water mark. If the Vecht washed over the trunk of the tree, there was a risk of flooding. In the 19th century the river was dammed.

Lemelerveld

Lemelerveld emerged as a working class neighborhood on the canal Zwolle - Vroomshoop the branch to Raalte - Deventer, where in 1865 a sugar factory began the processing of locally grown sugar beet. A metal goods factory took over the building in 1917, which disappeared after the closure in 2001. The village now thrives on the dahlia breeding, agriculture, and small businesses; many residents are construction workers.

Nieuwleusen

Nieuwleusen originated in 1631 as " veenkolonie " ( settlement of peat cutters ). In the 20th century a large bicycle factory ( Union) was the biggest employer in the village.

Attractions

Dalfsen has an attractive old village church and a small museum. On the Vecht water is possible. The wooded area is ideal for cycling and hiking. In the village there is a small marina with canoe rentals and several campsites. The many mansions ( havezates ), which mostly serve as an office building, and the castle Rechteren can not be visited; the parks and gardens of this country seats are freely accessible in general.

Every year a flower parade was held in Lemelerveld. It was held in 2009 for the last time in August on a Tuesday evening.

Twinning

The municipality maintains Dalfsen twinned with Hoerstel, North Rhine -Westphalia.
