Dalibor Šamšal

Dalibor Šamšal ( born December 25, 1985 in Rijeka) is a Croatian alpine skier. He starts mainly in the disciplines of slalom and giant slalom.

Biography

Šamšal runs for the ski club SK Rijeka. He played his first FIS race in December 2000. Between 2003 and 2005 he took part in the Junior World Championships, but could produce only two results in the first year. In the European Cup the Croat moves since March 2004. His first result in the points was an eleventh place in the hall slalom in Landgraaf on November 6, 2008. Three years later, on December 7, 2011, he reached fifth place in the slalom in Trysil the first Top - 10 finish in the European Cup. In the World Cup Šamšal runs since December 2004, primarily in the slalom and rarely also in the giant slalom and super combined. Only rarely far he succeeded in qualifying for the second round and a place in the top 30 on 6 January 2009, he won at his home slalom in Zagreb with the 22nd place first World Cup points. This result is his best to date in the World Cup.

At the 2005 World Championships in Bormio and 2007 in Åre Šamšal each took part in the slalom and giant slalom, but different in all races from in the first passage. Even in the Olympics, he had no success: the slalom in Turin in 2006, he could not finish, as he left in slalom and giant slalom at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The 40th place in the Giant Slalom World Championships 2009 in Val d'Isere is indeed only be countable result at major events. At the World Championships 2011 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he retired again in slalom and giant slalom.
