Do Somethin ' (English for "something to do " ) is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears from her first greatest hits album Greatest Hits: My Prerogative. It was February 14, 2005 by Jive Records as the second single from the album - with the exception of North America worldwide - published.
Background
Do Somethin ' was the Swedish team Bloodshy & Avant, who already worked with Spears in Toxic from their fourth studio album In the Zone, written and produced. The song was included in the Murlyn Studios in Stockholm. The song is written in the key of E minor. Spears' vocal range extends from sound E3 to C5 to the touch.
Produced by Bloodshy & Avant song was never intended to be published. However, there was a request from Spears and was thus realized. Do Somethin 'is a dance-pop song, lyrically it refers to spending a good time and not to listen to what others say about you.
The song received positive reviews from critics. Although the song was not released in the U.S., it reached a chart position due to high download speeds. Worldwide the song has continued high in the charts among others, the top ten position in countries such as Australia, Denmark, Sweden and the UK.
