Dongxiangs

The Dongxiang ( self-designation Sarta, Santa, Chinese东乡族, Pinyin Dōngxiāngzú ) (such as the Bonan ) mongolischstämmige a Muslim ethnic minority of the People's Republic of China and are one of the 56 officially recognized nationalities in the country. According to the last census in 2010, they include 621 500 people. They live mainly in Gansu, Xinjiang and Ningxia. Together with the Bonan they share the autonomous district Jishishan in autonomous Hui District Linxia of Gansu Province, in the same district, there is another autonomous group of Dongxiang.
