Dubove, Ukraine

Dubove (Ukrainian Дубове; Russian Дубовое / Dubowoje, German rarely Dombo / cathedral building, Slovak Dubové, Hungarian Dombó, Romanian Dambu ​​) is an urban-type settlement in the Western Ukraine ( Transcarpathian Oblast, Rajon Tyachiv ) about 33 kilometers northeast of the city Tyachiv.

The approximately 9200 inhabitants village lies in the valley of Teresva amidst the mountains of the Carpathians. The town's name derives from the Slavic word for oak.

History

The town grew in importance, as the local forest administration forest workers recruited from Bohemia, who settled in the area. In 1910 he was in the Kingdom of Hungary in the county Máramaros. After the end of World War 1 he came to the newly created Czechoslovakia (as part of the Carpathian Ukraine) and was ceded to the end of the second world war to the USSR. The municipality also includes the villages of Wyschnij Dubowez ( Вишній Дубовець ) and Nyschnij Dubowez ( Нижній Дубовець ). 1969 a factory was set up here for helicopter production.
