Dumbarton F.C.

The Dumbarton Football Club is a Scottish football club. The association comes from the town of Dumbarton, West Dunbartonshire. Currently the club plays in the Scottish Football League First Division. He is named after the Queen's Park FC (1867 ), FC Kilmarnock (1869 ) and the FC Stranraer (1870 ) is the fourth oldest club in Scotland.

History

1872-1899

In 1872, a small group of young men Dumbarton FC. In 1873 was the club member of the SFA.

The first successes came quickly and was one of the most dominant club Dumbarton in Scotland end of the 19th century. 1879 related to its fixed abode, the Boghead Park. In five years they remained unbeaten in Boghead Park. An impressive record, not only at that time.

1900-1999

Crest and nickname

The club emblem is an elephant with a castle behind it. It symbolizes the Dumbarton rock with the Dumbarton Castle. It says the rocks would resemble an elephant. The nickname of the " The Sons ", is derived from the term "Sons of the Rock", which refers to the inhabitants of Dumbarton.

Stadium
