Background information

In an interview with XFM on 26 April 2007 Dave Grohl said:

" We've been in the studio for the past month and a half, and we've got about another month to go. We've been recording with our friend Gil Norton. He worked on our second record ( The Colour and the Shape), he's a good guy and he makes amazing albums. So we're making a really big powerful record, Which I'm very excited about ... I can not wait to jump on stage and do this stuff, it's gonna be great. "

About:

" We were the last one and a half months in the studio and we will still need about a month. We recorded with our friend Gil Norton. He has worked with on our second album ( The Colour and the Shape), he is a nice guy and makes incredible albums. So we make a really powerful album, which I am very excited ... I can not wait to jump around on stage and play the stuff, which is great. "

On the song " Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners " Kaki King worked with. It is the first purely instrumental piece that the Foo Fighters have released. Grohl wrote it for the victims of the Beaconsfield mine disaster. Two of the buried miners had requested an iPod with Foo Fighters songs while they waited to be rescued.

The first single " The Pretender " was released on 17 September 2007 on CD and was heard previously from August 2007 on the radio to heat up to the album sales. The second single, " Long Road To Ruin " was released on December 3. " Cheer Up Boys (Your Make Up Is Running )" and " Let It Die " have both been published only digitally. The album title "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" comes as a verse in the song " Home " before.
