Eduard von Capelle

Eduard von Capelle ( born October 10, 1855 in Celle, † February 23, 1931 in Wiesbaden ) was a German naval officer, most recently Admiral. From 1916 to 1918 he was State Secretary in the Reich Naval Office.

Life

Capelle occurred on 18 April 1872 as a cadet in the Imperial Navy, completed his basic training and was first used on the brig SMS Rover. On October 6, 1872, he came to the Naval Academy. From April 17 1873 to December 31, 1876, he was subsequently to SMS Hertha and SMS Arcona. Capelle was then commanded to 28th October at the Naval Academy, then as a midshipman (since February 15, 1876 ) and company officer added to the Second Division sailors.

Since 1891 he worked in the Naval Office and in 1904 Director of Administration. On 7 July 1906 he was promoted to Rear Admiral, on 5 September 1909, Vice Admiral and finally on April 12, 1913, Admiral. He was from May 30, 1914 Under Secretary in the Imperial Navy Office and as such assistant to Admiral von Tirpitz, before he followed this in March 1916 in his position as Secretary of State. On October 5, 1918 Capelle resigned and was placed at the disposition as well as à la suite of Seeoffizierskorps.

For his services to Kaiser Wilhelm II had him brought on 21 June 1912 in the hereditary nobility.
