Epsach

Epsach ( in local dialect [ epsə ] ) is a village and a municipality in the administrative district in the canton of Bern Zealand. In addition to the upper and lower village it still includes the settlements in the Klus and Baar. Under the same name exists in addition to the community of a civic community.

Geography

Epsach located in the Bernese Seeland. The neighboring communities of north clockwise are starting Mörigen, Hermrigen, Bühl BE, Walperswil and Täuffelen.

History

The evidence of settlements in the municipality date back to the Bronze Age. The place name is probably 1244, certainly in 1345 testified as Ebza as Epzach, and probably goes back to a derivation from the Latin personal name Abidius with the Celtic Ortsnamensuffix -akos/-acum.

Policy

The voter shares of the parties at the national elections of 2011 were: SVP 45.0 %, SP 16.1 %, 13.9 % BDP, GPS 6.8 %, 4.1 % glp, FDP 2.8 %, EDU 2.8 %, CVP 2.8 %, 2.0 % EPP, Pirates 1.3 %.
