Chapels (French Chapelle ) is a municipality in the administrative district in the canton of Bern Seeland in Switzerland.

Geography

The neighboring municipalities are Aarberg, Bargen BE, Walperswil, Bühl BE, Hermrigen, Merzligen, Jens BE, Enlisted, Lyss.

Population

87,23 % of the inhabitants of chapels are German native language.

In chapels, there are numerous clubs, including the UHC chapels with three assets and three junior teams.

Policy

Voter shares of the parties at the national elections in 2011: SVP 40.8%, BDP 24.0%, SP 12.8%, glp 4.9%, FDP 4.3%, EPP 3.5%, 3.1%, GPS, EDU 1.7%, CVP 1.4%.

Community president is Rosmarie Marti.

Traffic

Chapels has a small airfield with a grass runway. The highway / motorway T 6 Biel - Bern runs along the eastern boundary of the municipality. Chapels, lies closer to the port Lyss South, Werdthof closer to the port Lyss Nord. This connector is partly due to the municipality. Chapels is by bus Biel - Aarberg connected to public transport.
