Leuzigen

The Leuziger schoolhouse

Leuzigen (formerly Leuzingen ) is a municipality in the administrative district in the canton of Bern Seeland in Switzerland. It consists of the actual part of the village and the hamlet Brunnadern.

Especially for the church is that still exists a civic community, together with the municipality.

Geography

Leuzigen is located on 456 m above sea level. M. as the last village in the canton of Bern and therefore the Lakes region between the Aare and the beginnings of Bucheggbergs. It is surrounded on three sides by the Canton of Solothurn. The village has only small differences in height of about 80 meters above sea level.

The northern boundary of the municipality is limited by the winding course of the river Aare. From there, first extending agricultural land up to the A5 motorway. South of the highway and extending parallel thereto, disused railway line are some new housing developments. The actual village consists of old farmhouses mixed with newer houses along the main road and the Bucheggbergstrasse by beavers SO. Furthermore, are still behind the glacial moraine of the Längenberg a settlement called Brunnader.

The neighboring communities of north clockwise beginning are Bettlach, Selzach, Nennigkofen, Lüterkofen- Ichertswil, Buchegg and Arch

Population

The population oscillates for several years 1100-1200 people. Leuzigen heard so the smaller Bernese communities.

Especially in the upper part of the village, some new houses were built in recent years.

The voter shares of the parties at the national elections of 2011 were: SVP 30.2 %, BDP 26.4 %, SP 13.9 %, FDP 12.7 %, GPS 4.1 %, glp 3.5 %, CVP 1.7 %, EDU 1.5 %, Alps Parliament 1.4 %, EPP 1.1 %, SD 1.0 %.

Traffic

In addition, the A5 motorway via the Leuziger municipality near the Aare River.

Close to the village there are two feeder road. In the east (4 km) it is the driveway Solothurn- West and the West ( 3 km) of the connection Grenchen.

Leuzigen is connected to the network of public transport. Every hour buses between Solothurn and Zollikofen commute in Bern (line 8 and 888, respectively ), thus replacing the railway line Solothurn- Buren, was decommissioned in 1994. So Leuzigen is connected on one side to the next larger town of Solothurn and with Buren and the whole Bucheggberg. In the neighboring village Arch is also a transit traffic on the network of bus services Grenchner.
