Équevillon

Équevillon is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Équevillon is located on 616 m above sea level. M., about three kilometers northeast of the city Champagnole (air line). The village is located in the Jura, on a plateau north of the Valley of Loudaine, between the Mont Rivel in the west and the Forêt de la face to the east.

The area of ​​4.84 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. History

The territory of Équevillon was settled very early. Evidence from prehistoric times are the menhirs in the Forêt de la face. During the Gallo- Roman period was on the Mont Rivel a temple complex and a settlement.

In the 12th century it developed into a castle settlement, the 1479 along with the castle Montrivel of troops of King Louis XI. were razed to the ground.
