Le Vaudioux
Le Vaudioux is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.
Geography
Le Vaudioux is located on 655 m above sea level. M., about six kilometers south of the city Champagnole (air line). The farming village extends in the Jura, in a depression at the edge of the high plateau of Champagnole, west of the valley of Syam, at the southern foot of Chaumont.
The area of 6.01 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area occupied by the basin of Le Vaudioux that on average 650 meters above sea level. M. located and has a width of slightly more than one kilometer. It is drained by a small creek to the southeast to Lemme. Is flanked this sink in the east of the forest back of Liège ( 666 m above sea level. M. ) and in the north of the height of the Chaumont (up to 780 m above sea level. At Le Vaudioux the settlement La Billaude part (605 m above sea level. M. ) in a basin at the Lemme. Neighboring communities of Le Vaudioux are Cize in the north, Syam and Chaux -des- Crotenay in the east, the south and Châtelneuf Pillemoine in the West.
History
Since the Middle Ages belonged to Le Vaudioux Kastlanei Châtelneuf. In the 14th century La Billaude was the site of a brickyard. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.
Attractions
The village church of Le Vaudioux was built in the 19th century. Among the natural attractions include the Cascades de la Billaude (also called Saut Claude Roy ). Here plunges Lemme with two waterfalls ( a total of 28 meters ) into a ravine.
Population
With 163 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Le Vaudioux one of the small towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 264 persons were still counted ), a slight increase in population was recorded since the early 1970s again.
Economy and infrastructure
Le Vaudioux was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture and forestry village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Of importance is the long-established sawmill La Billaude. Many workers are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares, but is easily accessible from the main road N5, which runs from Champagnole after Morez. Further road links exist with Loulle and Châtelneuf. Le Vaudioux has a station on the railway opened in 1900 line of Champagnole after Morez.
