Erik Solheim ( born January 18, 1955 in Oslo) is a Norwegian politician. He was chairman of Sosialistisk Venstreparti 1987-1997.
Solheim began his political career in 1977 when he took over the management of Sosialistisk Ungdom. From 1985 to 1987 he was party secretary of the SV. Solheim was a member of the Storting for Sør -Trøndelag from 1989 to 1993 and from 1993 to 2001 in Oslo. In spring 2000 he was a consultant for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka. Since 2006 he has been minister of development aid in the red- green government in Norway. In the cabinet reshuffle on 18 October 2007, he also received the Ministry of Environment. As part of the renewal of the socialist Minister Solheim had to post 23 March 2012 to give up his post.
