Sylvia Brustad

Sylvia Brustad ( born December 19, 1966 in Elverum ) is a Norwegian politician of the Social Democratic Arbeiderpartiet. From 2005 to 2009 she was Minister in the second cabinet of Jens Stoltenberg.

Education and work

After high school ( examen artium ) 1983 1985 she studied a year at the Community College of the labor movement in Ringsaker. From 1987 to 1989 she worked as a journalist for the Union paper Aktuelt LO and the Social Democratic weekly newspaper Aktuelt perspective. Since autumn 2013 Brustad occupies a senior position in the company Aker Solutions, to whose main shareholder Aker Holding AS, the Norwegian state holds 30 percent.

Public offices

Brustad from 1987 to 1989, member of the Provincial Assembly ( fylkesting ) of Hedmark. From 1989 to 2009 she was a member of the Storting for Hedmark. Sylvia Brustad was from 1996 to 1997 Minister of Children and Family in the Cabinet by Thorbjørn Jagland. She was Minister of municipalities and regions in the first cabinet of Jens Stoltenberg of 17 March 2000 to 19 October 2001. From 17 October 2005 to 20 October 2009 she was Minister in the second cabinet Stoltenberg, first for health and welfare, from 20 June 2008 for Economy and Trade. From 2010 to 2013 she worked as a State Councillor ( fylkesmann ) of Hedmark.
