Erwin Sellering

Erwin Selle Ring (born 18 October 1949 in Sprockhövel ) is a German politician (SPD) and since October 6, 2008 Prime Minister of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Previously, he was Minister of Social Affairs since 2006 and from 2000 to 2006 Minister of Justice of the country.

Life and career

Selle ring comes from a conservative Protestant parents' house; his father was a presbyter and was active in local politics as a longstanding member of the CDU.

After graduating from high school forest road in Hattingen Selle ring graduated in law at the Ruprecht -Karls- University of Heidelberg, Ruhr-University Bochum and the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, which he finished in 1975 with the first legal state exam. After subsequent clerkship he was in 1978 the second legal state examination and was even appointed as a judge on trial in the same year. 1981 he was appointed judge of the Administrative Court Gelsenkirchen. 1994 Selle ring was Chief Judge of the Administrative Court of Greifswald. He was seconded from January to November 1996 as Head of Secretariat to the second parliamentary inquiry committee of the Parliament of Mecklenburg -Vorpommern. Subsequently, he was appointed in December 1996 as Vice President of the Administrative Court of Greifswald.

From 10 November 1998 to 30 June 2000, he was seconded as a department manager in the State Chancellery of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Erwin married in 2010 Selle ring a second time. From the first marriage two children were born.

Political career

Party

Since 1994 Selle ring is a member of the SPD. Since 1996, he joined the SPD in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Executive Committee and was the SPD regional chairman since 2003 deputy. On 14 April 2007 he was elected chairman of the national association. Previously, he was Chairman of the SPD Selle ring - Greifswald district association and the SPD - regional group Vorpommern.

Member of Parliament

Since 2002 he is a member of the Landtag of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It's 2002, and again recovered in 2011 as a directly elected delegates of the constituency Greifswald and 2006 over the national list in the state legislature.

Public offices

On 20 September 2000 Selle ring was appointed as Minister of Justice in the run of Prime Minister Harald Ringstorff state government of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. After the state elections in 2006 Ringstorff put him on November 7, 2006, the leadership of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.

On 6 October 2008 Selle ring was elected to the office of prime minister to succeed the retiring Ringstorff. The vote in the state parliament of Mecklenburg- Vorpommern, he received 40 of 45 possible votes of the coalition partner, the SPD and CDU his first election campaign as Prime Minister could Selle ring successfully challenge: In the 2011 election, the SPD recorded significant electoral gains and was at 35.6 percent, once again the strongest party. On October 25, 2011 he was confirmed with 42 of 70 votes, two less were present as Members of his coalition in his office.
