Eskişehir ( Turkish for " old town ", the original name in antiquity and Byzantium was Δορύλαιον Dorylaion ) is 629 609 (2010) inhabitants and one of the largest cities in Anatolia and the capital of the Turkish province.

The area around Eskişehir is mainly known by the degradation of sepiolite ( Lületaş ). In the city center there are numerous shops that sell meerschaum pipes, which are carved here since 1700.

History
