Eurovision Young Musicians

Euro Vision Young Musicians is a competition for young Europeans between 15 and 19 years. It is organized by the European Broadcasting Union ( EBU).

The competition is held every two years and also televised. Since its inception in 1982, the Euro Vision Young Musicians Competition became one of the most important music competitions at international level.

In contrast to the Euro Vision Song Contest and other events organized by the EBU decides the Euro Vision Young Musicians, an international jury of experts.

Events

1982

The first Euro - Vision Young Musicians final was held in the Free Trade Hall in Manchester (United Kingdom ) on 11 May 1982. Musicians from Denmark, France, Norway, Austria, Switzerland and West Germany took part in the finals. All of them were accompanied by the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

1984

The second final was held at the Victoria Hall in Geneva ( Switzerland ) on 22 May 1984. Musicians from Finland, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, West Germany and the United Kingdom participated in the finals.

1986

The third final was held in Copenhagen, Denmark on 27 May 1986.

1988

The fourth finale was held at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 31 May 1988.

1990

The fifth final was held in the house of the Vienna Musikverein in Vienna, Austria on 29 May 1990.

1992

The sixth finals was held in Brussels ( Belgium) on June 9, 1992.

1994

The seventh final was (Poland ) held in the Philharmonic Concert Hall in Warsaw on 14 June 1994. A total of 24 participants were at the start, eight of which came in the final.

1996

The eighth finals was held in Lisbon ( Portugal) on 12 June 1996. Eight musicians were selected for the final, which was broadcast in 22 countries.

1998

The ninth final was held in Vienna ( Austria ) on 4 June 1998.

2000

The tenth finale was held on 15 June 2000 in the Grieg Hall in Bergen ( Norway). A total of 24 participants were at the start, eight of which came in the final. The finalists were accompanied by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Simone Young.

2002

The eleventh finale was held at the Konzerthaus in Berlin ( Germany ) on June 19, 2002. A total of 20 participants were at the start, seven of which came in the final.

2004

The twelfth finale was held at the Culture and Congress Centre in Lucerne ( Switzerland ) on 27 May 2004. A total of 16 participants were at the start, seven of which came in the final. The finalists were accompanied by the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Christian Arming.

2006

The 13 final was held at the Town Hall Square during the opening of the Vienna Festival in Vienna ( Austria ) on 12 May 2006. A total of 18 participants were at the start, seven of which came in the final. The finalists were accompanied by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Christian Arming.

2008

The 14 final was again on the Rathausplatz in Vienna on 9 May 2008. It was also the opening concert of the Vienna Festival. A total of 16 participants were at the start, seven of which came in the final. The semi-finals took place at the Theater an der Wien on 4 and 5 May. The finalists were accompanied by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Aleksandar Markovic. The jury was chaired by Sir Roger Norrington.

For the first time also a spectator SMS voting took place. This audience award won Eldbjørg Hemsing with their interpretation of the Carmen Fantasy by Franz Waxman.

2010

The 15 final was the third time on the Rathausplatz in Vienna at the opening concert of the Vienna Festival on May 14, 2010. A total of 15 participants were at the start, seven of which came in the final. The semi-finals took place at the broadcasting center of Vienna, on 8 and 9 May. The finalists were accompanied by the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Cornelius Meister. The jury was headed by Péter Eötvös.

2012

The 16th Final was held at the Town Hall Square in Vienna, and again at the opening concert of the Vienna Festival on May 11, 2012 for the fourth time. A total of 14 participants were at the start, seven of which came in the final. The semi - final was already on 5 and 6 May 2012 at the Schubert Hall in Vienna. The finalists were accompanied again by the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Cornelius Meister. The jury was headed by Markus Hinterhäuser.

2014

The 17th Final will take place on May 31, 2014 Roncalliplatz in Cologne. A total of 14 participants are registered.
