Eurovision Dance Contest

The Euro Vision Dance Contest was a dance competition, which was organized by the European Broadcasting Union, which is also responsible for the Euro Vision Song Contest and Junior Euro Song Contest. In it couples from different countries competed against each other. He should be held annually. So far, however, there were only two editions in 2007 and 2008. Third edition, which would be held in 2009, was first postponed to 2010, and then suspended indefinitely.

Idea

In the competition, each country sent a couple into the race. Each pair led to two dances, and it is a classic ballroom dance consisted at first and should have the second national typical elements. One expert commented on the performances for each country. The audience finally selected by televoting her favorite pair, with not only the dance performance, but also the choreography and the music and costume choice should be considered.

The first edition of the show was held on 1 September 2007 by the BBC in London. The BBC also took over the organization of the second edition, 2008.

In the second edition of Poland won with the pair Edyta herbus & Marcin Mroczek with 154 points. It is also noteworthy that they had of possible 48 points from the jury before the televoting only 20.

The originally planned for September 2009 3 Euro Vision Dance Contest to be held in Azerbaijan's capital Baku. Due to the lack of interest on the part of the national TV station of the competition was postponed to the autumn of 2010. Hosts remained Azerbaijan. In January 2010, Svante Stockselius announced that the Euro Vision Dance Contest is for now no longer take place.
