Fonni

Fonni is the highest mountain village of Sardinia (1000 m).

The village with 4046 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) is located in the province of Nuoro in the Italian region Sardinia. The amounts painted Sanctuary of the Madonna and the Martyrs has a historical picture of the Madonna, which ( were former occasion Transhumanzfeierlichkeiten ) at the Sagra della Madonna dei Trachtenfest Martini is carried through the streets in June.

Fonni located 33 km south of Nuoro.

Borders the following municipalities: Desulo, Gavoi, Lodine, Mamoiada, Orgosolo Ovodda and Strisaili (OG).

The giant grave of Bidistili and the lie of Madau also near Fonni as the nuragic village and the menhir Gremonu Santu Michele Orrui and the Nuraghe Dronnoro.
