The Force India VJM05 is the fifth Formula 1 racing car of the Indian team Force India. He was introduced on February 3, 2012 at the Silverstone Circuit to the public and used in the 2012 Formula 1 season, was an engine supplier Mercedes.
Technology and Development
The Force India VJM05 is the successor of the Force India VJM04. A striking feature of the car are the " hump " in the area of the front suspension. The Force India VJM05 was developed under the guidance of technical director Andrew Green. Chief designer of the car were Ian Hall and Akio Haga.
The transmission comes from McLaren, the fuel and lubricants supplied ExxonMobil. The engine, a 2.4 liter V8 engine and the KERS come from Mercedes AMG HPP. The tires made ready as with all other teams Pirelli.
Paint and sponsorship
The Force India VJM05 was in the colors of the Indian flag orange, white and green painted. The title sponsor and shareholder Sahara India Pariwar was represented as a sponsor on the side pods. Other major sponsors of the team were Kingfisher Airlines and spirits maker Whyte and Mackay and Vladivar Vodka, companies that are close to the team principal Vijay Mallya.
Driver
In addition to Paul di Resta, who was a regular pilot of the team in the previous year, Nico Hulkenberg received the second Force India cockpit. Hulkenberg was previously a test driver of the racing team. The rollout of the Force India VJM05 was held at Silverstone on the day of presentation by di Resta.
