The McLaren MP4 -27 Formula 1 racing car of McLaren for the 2012 Formula 1 season. It was the 40th Formula 1 racing car racing team founded in 1965. It was powered by a Mercedes engine. The vehicle was introduced on February 1, 2012 in the McLaren headquarters in Woking UK.

Technology and Development

The McLaren MP4 -27 was the successor to the McLaren MP4 - 26th Due to the regulations related changes in exhaust position, the design of the car has been modified. Compared to the previous model, the U-shaped sidepods were replaced by a classical variant. The tail was also built slimmer and lower. The McLaren MP4 -27 was developed under the leadership of Paddy Lowe ( Technical Director ), Tim Goss ( Chief Engineer ) and Neil Oatley ( chief designer ).

The transmission was a McLaren own design. The fuel and lubricants were supplied by ExxonMobil. The engine, a 2.4-liter V8 engine and KERS were from Mercedes AMG HPP. The tires provided by Pirelli.

Paint and sponsorship

The McLaren MP4 -27 was painted chrome in many parts. The side pods and front and rear wings had, however, in reference to the title sponsor Vodafone a red color. Other major sponsors on the car or team clothing were Hugo Boss, Johnnie Walker, Lucozade, Mercedes -Benz, Mobil 1 and Santander.

Driver

McLaren held for the 2012 season firmly on the driver duo Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton. The rollout of the McLaren MP4 -27 was performed by test driver Oliver Turvey in straight test at the first weekend of February.
