Franz Obrist

Franz Obrist ( born January 28, 1965) is a former Italian natural track luge. He started in the recliner, 1991 European champion and won four more medals at World and European Championships. With a total of five wins in World Cup races, he won the overall World Cup twice, in addition he also won the European Cup twice.

Career

Obrist achieved at the Junior European Championships 1983 in Montreux and the ninth at the Junior European Championships 1984 in Hol fourth place in the single-seater. In the general class he scored the first international successes in European competition with a second place in 1988 in Oberperfuss and the victory in 1989 also in Oberperfuss. In the same year he participated in Garmisch -Partenkirchen for the first time at a European Championship and finished fourth part. After he had only occupies the 23rd place in Gsies at the 1990 World Cup, he won the European Championship in 1991 in Fiè front of his countrymen Erhard miller's man and Harald Steinhauser gold medal in the single-seater. In 1992 the bronze medal at the World Championships in Bad Goisern.
