Three weeks later he competed in the European Junior Championships and won silver in the doubles with Millet. In single-seater he finished fifth. His first medal in the general class won Lugon at the European Championships 1977 in Siusi with third place in the single-seater. In doubles, he did not start this year. After being at the European Championships 1978 in Aurach fourth in single-seaters and fifth in doubles - with Erich Graber - had just missed twice a medal, he was at the European Championships 1979 in Fénis European champion in single-seater and with Andrea Millet Vice European Champion in doubles. A week after these championships was held the first world championship in Inzing. Lugon was able to maintain his form and has been with Millet world champion in doubles and Vice World Champion in the single-seater. In the second World Cup in 1980 in Moos in Passeier Lugon again won the silver medal in the single-seater. In doubles, he was together with Andrea Millet the last time at the start, but they occupied only the tenth and last place.

Another silver medal in the single-seater won Lugon at the European Championships 1981 in Niedernsill, at the 1982 World Cup and the European Championship in 1983, he remained as fourth positions respectively, but almost without precious metal. At the World Championships in 1984 in Kreuth the Italians did not finish the race. In 1985 Lugon stood at the European Championships in Szczyrk in second again on the podium. The silver medal he won at the World Cup 1986 in Fénis, but had to be at the European Championships 1987 in Jesenice settle for tenth place. After the World Cup in 1988 had to be canceled due to weather conditions, Lugon celebrated at the European Championships 1989 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen his last major success when he became European Champion in the single-seater, ten years after his first European title for the second time. With this victory Lugon still holds the record for most European medals in the men's single-seater ( two gold, two silver and one bronze). In the 1990 World Cup - his last major international event - he went to eighth.

In the European Cup Lugon scored 1978-1989 a total of ten podium finishes in seven -seater and three in doubles. On top of the podium he stood twice: 1981 and 1985 in doubles in the single-seater.
